I’m sitting here listening to the news in San Francisco and people are complaining about the price of gas. Things have gone so far that people actually are beginning to siphon gas out of cars. Very interesting.
I remember when gas was about $0.75 a gallon. And that was when I was about 16 and had my first car. Now prices in California have reached up to $3.97. People can’t afford to drive anymore. Wah wah. Must suck to not be able to feed your gas guzzler SUV.
I started to think about the fact that no one in Europe ever complains about their petrol prices. It is just a fact of life that you pay for if you want to own a car – that and insane road taxes and congestion charge and parking permits…it isn’t cheap.
So how much do we pay in London for a gallon of gas?
Are you ready for this?
£1.09 is the price (on average in London) for a liter of petrol.
1 US gallon is equal to 3.79 liters.
Which means that a gallon of gas costs £4.15 per gallon.
And to all you Americans, that equals $8.22 per gallon.
Think about that next time you start to complain about the prices of gas…
(oh and get smaller, more fuel efficient cars or learn to walk)
