Tesco ban on shoppers in pyjamas. The shock horror of it all!

Elaine Carmody, 24, a full-time mother of two young boys, described the ban as "ridiculous" and "pathetic".

She said she had regularly gone shopping at the store in her pyjamas until about a week ago when she was turned away when she went to buy cigarettes.

She said she had been "popping in for a pack of fags," but if she had been doing a full shop "then we obviously would have gone in clothed".

I wish I were kidding about this article, but I'm not. Read the whole story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/8484116.stm

Damn.. guess there's no point in moving back to the USA now that they've taken this away from us.

It's in the UK, so you are safe. I also love the bit about her £120 shopping trip. Good to know that my taxpayer dollars go toward her fags...

I got thrown out of Tesco's a few weeks ago for not putting my hood (of a fine goretex jacket) down upon entering the store. This was on one of those really cold, miserable and snowy evenings and I had my headphones on. The guard went apeshit after I've apparently ignored 3 warnings and literally dragged me out of the store to explain the policy.

Nothing worse than an ignorant person with a tiny amount of power. Kind of like TSA.

Jan's comment is appalling, socialism at its finest.

My high school kids regularly wore their jammies to school last year when I was subbing up north. I was surprised that there was no policy against it, given that the school boards sometimes dictate asinine policies.

OK - hate me, but give the rest of us a break, will ya? We have to look at you whether you're just "popping in" or doing a "full shop". Sorry, but pajamas are just not proper wear in public - for adults OR children. Where the heck do you folks draw the line, anyway? Having said that, I don't understand the hood thing - nobody's business as far as I'm concerned.

And more importantly IMO, who decides where to "draw the line"? Should I, you, or anyone else be allowed to assert personal moral views (or lack of) on society? I'm more in line with personal responsibility, and the personal consequences of such, like getting your ass beat for wearing swastikas in public.

PIL's lyrics to "Acid Drops" pretty much sum up my views on censorship of any sort: http://www.fodderstompf.com/LYRICS/notlyric.html#ACID
