This was a fun gadget to receive from the iloverobots folks. It is a Mechatar. A robot that connects to the computer that can engage in both online and offline battles. All in all it is a pretty simple robot. I would say that the average age of kid that would enjoy this robot would be between 5-10 (oh, and myself at 35).

The robot itself is pretty simple. It comes with a wireless remote that has battle buttons and buttons to move it around. You push the Go button to make it move forward and the turn button allows it to rotate out of tricky positions by moving in one direction. Presumably you can battle with other Mechatars if they were nearby. I really wish I had one to try this out. When you are done with your battle, you can upload battle data to the website also play against other opponents online. The gameplay is pretty simple stuff and perfect for a child. You choose an attack and sit back and watch it happen. It is a Pokemon-like experience.

I’m sure that kids will love playing with this since even I had fun making him run around the room. I would definitely recommend getting two of these because having one is a little bit lonely. Who are you going to battle with?!?

You can buy your own Mechatars (retail value $39.99) and accessories by visiting iloverobots.com and using coupon code MECHMOM to receive 10% off your purchase. The code is valid until 11/30/2011.

Or you can win a Mechatars by doing one (or all) of the following:

Go to the Mechatars website and click Play Now (you’ll have to register) – leave a comment here about which Mechatar you would like

Like Mechatars on Facebook(write a comment for them)

Follow @Mechatars on twitter and tweet at them using the hashtags #CleverRobot #spon

Wow. The fine folks at Quidsi have done it again. Quidsi is the parent company for my beloved Soap.com, Diapers.com, BeautyBar.com and Wag.com…geez. And now they have launched Yoyo.com. Yoyo is a toy store that features about 20,000 products – compared to Toyrus’ 10,000. Everyone knows that the reason I love Soap.com so much is their super fast and free shipping and all of the Quidsi sites clearly share logistics because the same 2 day rule applies to Yoyo. It makes tons of sense that Amazon bought Quidsi and they got a bargain for $300m if you look at all the sites they are launching. Pretty exciting stuff.

Yoyo looks like it has a pretty awesome selection across the board. I especially love the child age / gender selector to pick toys. I would like to point out that we launched the personalized child selector on Grows Up that was similar. Great minds think alike?

Yoyo will certainly make it much easier for Moms and Aunties when shopping during the Holiday season!

I do wish that Quidsi would launch an Amazon Prime program across their sites. And that they would beef up their reviews.

I have embedded an offer here if you want to try out the freshly launched Yoyo.com. Free shipping when you reach $25. Not too bad.

I love Small Magazine. It is an online magazine that was created by two best friends that manages to be merge art and fashion for kids beautifully. It is published every month and I always look forward to seeing what great fashion spreads they have and what interesting tidbits and tips will be shared. This month has a great music section, for example. I highly recommend getting on their mailing list and also reading up on their daily blog called Smaller. You will not be disappointed.

I thought this was a cute one to add to your Halloween arsenal. Mummy lights! You can either use them as super treat jars for giveaways or as tealights for decor. They manage to be cute, spooky and crafty all at once.

This is a bit overkill, but a seriously stylish pushcar for kids. The Playsam Saab Roadster. Quite beautiful. We’re pretty sure that Branjelina’s kids have about 6 of these.

The Saab Roadster Car is an activity toy for small children. It has a clean and simple design, like Saab cars in general. The design of the Saab Roadster Car is based on the very first Saab, Sixten Sason´s prototype 92001. Not recommended for children under 12 months.

They come in two different flavors – one with wood trimmings that cost about €300 or one with gold trimmings that is $1,400.

I love Maurice Sendak book’s of past. Classics. In the Night Kitchen and Where the Wild Things Are. My favorite is Really Rosie starring the Nutshell Kids with Carole King singing. I seriously used to run around my house belting this out as a child.

Maurice Sendak has released his first book that he has written and illustrated in over 30 years this year. Bumble-Ardy is about a pig whose birthday has been ignored by his parents for the first 8 years of his life – and then they die. Classic dark Sendak for sure.

Released today on Amazon. Pick one up!
