adamstown inn Ended up drinking a few bottles of white wine, eating some steaks, reading some books on our little balcony…and then running into Uncle Rod.

OK, the longer version of that story. We went up to Adamstown, PA to get away for the afternoon. I was rather intent upon seeing the Amish since I had already eaten a cheesesteak and what else is Pennsylvania famous for? Anyone that has ever seen the Harrison Ford (pre-Calista) movie Witness probably knows what I am talking about. As for the readers of my site, you will probably identify more with Kingpin. Anyways, I went up there to try to get in-depth with a culture that shocks me. No internet? Whoa…that is shocking.

We stayed at the lovely little bed and breakfast located in the heart of Adamstown. Well there really isn’t much going on in Adamstown except it has dubbed (and trademarked) itself as the Antique Capital of the USA (or world, can’t really remember). We had the Topaz room in the Amethyst Inn which was very quaint. I was actually surprised that Darby didn’t puke over the teacups and doillies, but he managed to surpress his overly-masculine urges and kept his mouth shut. The inn was great. The rooms were nice and equipped with a 2 person jacuzzi. Breakfast in the morning was delish with the innkepper harrassing us to eat all their handmade pastries. Only crap part was having to a 10 am checkout time.

The day was rainy so we ditched the Amish and decided to go junking (as the locals call it). Went over to the Mad Hatter Antique mall and spent a few hours rummaging through crap. Ended up digging out an old Stetson hat, a pretty bracelet and a few magazine pages to frame of a creepy looking Joan Crawford.

Then home. Somewhere in between there we managed to eat dinner and take this photo of someones license plate. Must be Uncle Rod.
