image So yesterday the French showed up in droves to say Non to the European Union referendum. 55% decided against it.

You may ask yourself why would one of the founding states decide that they were against this…

Possible reasons for voting NON

The Now Dead Constitution

Some CONS of the Constitution

• The charter enshrines an “ultra-liberal” economic model which puts market interests ahead of social concerns. It does not protect workers enough and will drive firms out of well-established members such as France to states with lower wages and costs in eastern Europe.

• On defence, the constitution makes the EU dependent on Nato, and therefore the United States.

• French influence will decline inside the bloc as the constitution strips countries of more sovereign rights and moves power to Brussels.

• The constitution paves the way for Turkey to enter the EU.

• The constitution is hard to understand and read, and a better treaty can be negotiated that takes more account of social concerns. A French “No would also encourage a wider debate on the merits and goals of the EU.

I am happy it didn’t passed.
An All powerfull Brussells can be dangerous.

Furthermore, how can you do a constitution that almost no-one can read or understand? The US Consitution is simple in comparisson to the proposed EU one.

However, Europe has to fix themselves FAST. France and Germany have about 10% unemployment, and economic growth has been stalled.

They can enjoy all of the social benefits they want… but if they don’t jump-start their economies soon, they will live poorly in comparisson to other countries. (everyone will live socially equal… but equally poor).

I hope they re-draft a good constitution soon.
