post Category: random thoughts post postDecember 9, 2004

I have to admit that when I moved to Spain I was a bit confuzzled by many things. One of the things that perplexed my little American brain the most was the usage of the metric system. For the record, I still have trouble with it and pretty much accept certain things.

But…here are some factoids to help out you other troubled folks.

I am 5′6 which equates to 170.699 centimeters
I weigh 121 lbs which is 55 kilos
The temp. outside is 16° which is 61°F
My flat is 100 Square Meters which is roughly 1,076 Square Feet
My car’s top speed is 120 km which is 74.5 MPH
I drank 1 liter of Cava the other night (which made my head hurt) which is .26 gallons

And if you want to try these conversions yourself just use the handy little Google calculator.

Side note: American guys should like the metric system… They could say that their penis is 12.7 centimeters instead of 5 inches!!!

Find out why Metric is better

You obviously haven’t seen some of the guys that I go out with. ;)

Girls should also like it cause you weigh much less in kilos!

One of the reasons we lost a martian terrain rover about five years ago was that the two government contractors working on the design of the equipment worked on two different meassurement systems.

Moral of the story: whenever you type a meassurement, type the UNITS as well.

Hey, if I told a girl the size in cm without telling her the units, I may scare her away ;)
