i had a weekend of insanity. i have been a big freak for the past week. after spending the entire weekend holed up in my bedroom hiding from life and people under my covers i woke up this morning feeling a need to get out of my house. i have always wanted to go to the dali museum and see what our friend salvador got up to in his life. So I jumped into the smart loaded only with a bottle of water and a pack of smokes and headed off to figures.
i didn’t quite know what to expect. i had heard good things about the museum and was quite curious. i have to say that i was not disappointed.
the dali theatre-museum was build on the remains of the old figures theatre and opened in 1974. it houses a plethora of dali’s artwork from his entire career and is absolutely amazing. i was taken aback by the large span of different artwork that dali did - from the paintings, sculptures, sketches, jewelry. it was really impressive. i think that the most amazing part of the museum has to be the atrium with the old Cadillac and the room with the enormous painting behind it. after visiting the mae west room, i was sitting there wishing that i could have dali decorate my house (ok, it might be a little freaky).
to sum up my experience. i was feeling crazy all weekend. after seeing the dali museum, i have no doubt that he was insane. which, in part, made me feel a little more sane. thanks for putting it all into perspective, salvador! if you ever get a chance, please go visit this place.
