another weekend in the eternal city visiting our little friends, ornella and chiara. flew in on friday evening and was greeted by lovely chiara in her little blue car and a pack of smokes. headed offwards towards ikea and ornella’s casa. what a lovely surprise we had waiting for us at the flat. roberta had made the terrace into a mini-morocco complete with candles and straw floormats. ornella greeted us with a bottle of the finest white wine that €2 can buy and we caught up on the latest goss.

dinner that evening was at the beach side. i would have preferred to eat in a porchetta (pronounced PORK ETA). porchetta’s were quite a revelation for me. they look like little fish-n-chip vendors with plastic tables set up on sidewalks. people dine with their bottles of wine on greasy pork sandwiches in the summer air. i personally loved this idea and shouted “porchetta” at the top of my lungs every time i saw one of these stands that litter the streets like taco trucks in tijuana.
post dinner, we stayed on at the rotonda on la playa and ordered some €10 beverages. what a rip off, but i suppose since it was the only seaside party in rome they could ask the exhorbitant prices. danced all evening with my new found friends - mossimo, fabio, andrea, and thomas. the poor guys had to listen to me speak in spanish to them the entire night.

on our way home, decided that we would take a breakfast break at a roadside mcdonalds. gross. i ended up making a spectacle in the mini-mart with a fashion show consisting of road workers outfits, bowling pins, and lunchables. mmmnnnn. don’t ask.
spent the rest of the weekend doing what all good trips to rome consist of. dining on spectacular italian dishes, shopping in the finest establishments, laughing heartily at my italians singing at dinner and swimming at the pool. BENE BENE BENE! Ciao for now!
