post Category: boring life post postFebruary 19, 2003

yeah - i really got your attention on that title didn’t i? sorry - no orgy here. got back from a lovely weekend in rome yesterday. went out on valentine’s day to visit our favorite italian friend, ornella. arrived to be picked up by orny and vitti in the little yellow mini.

was staying at the ripa hotel which also happened to be where we were eating dinner and where we were going clubbing in the evening. nothing quite as good as eating, drinking, dancing, and then jumping on a lift to get to your room to pass out! had a fantastic meal and drank some grappa (ewwwww, don’t like this one). laughed with the giles of italy - paolo - and friend marco. then on to the clubby club where we had a table in the little vip area. bottles of veuve and lots of italian craziness were on tap for the evenings events. after fighting with the waitresses over bar tabs, we went out into the cold night air and to another club. home after a stroll through.

ornella, paolo y yo

woke up on saturday to a pleasant surprise. sunshine on our lovely terrace. the weather reports were claiming that it would be “mostly cloudy”, so i was very happy. got up and hit the town for a good session of shopping. i have to admit that I LOVE SHOPPING IN ITALY! barcelona shopping has nothing on this. managed to spend a good portion of money in one short block. ate at a “brucheter-eter-eter-ria” and then did more shopping. wandered around all day looking at old things. orny took me to “the best cup of coffee in rome” and then to “the best square in rome” and then to “the best shop in rome”. it was a day of bestest things!

back at the hotel had a little nappy nap. dinner reservations were at 9 pm for the supper club. thought i might throw up on my way there with all the bumpy streets, lack of sleep, and shopping dehydration. arrived at the restaurant and had a few glasses of champagne while we awaited our companions. our escorts arrived along with several swedish girlys. fabio, alessandro, andrea, and gianluca were our fabulous italian designer labels for the evening - oh and the swedish girl ornaments. we all threw off our shoes and jumped into bed to be served for the next 6 hours with house music, gorgeous foods, fine wines and, most importantly, laughter!

left the restaurant around 2:30ish and went to a few bars and wandering the streets drunken and still laughing heartily. ended up at someone’s house. more alcohol, more laughter, more music. an all in all perfect evening!

then died on sunday. got a tour through the city - look kids, the coliseum - ancient ruins - catacombs. then passed out on ornella’s couch after eating some meatballs with vitti yelling at me in italian and giving me chocolate.

am back now. needed that weekend. loved that weekend. thanks italians for showing me such a great time!
