My new favourite toy is my iPod mp3 player by Apple. It is a sweet addition to the nerdy gadgets and devices that I have purchased recently. After months of admiring the little iPod from afar, I decided to take the plunge and trade my mini-disc player in for a 10 gig version. It was a tough call between the 10 and the 20 gig edition since I typically prefer to purchase the top of the line models of things. There is only a $100 difference between the two for those extra 10 gigs, but in the end I only have about 7 gigs worth of mp3’s. Picked one up on Amazon Gold Box special. Yes, that is correct, they actually have some worthwhile items on there and you thought that they only tried to sell you shovels and wireless hubs! Got my iPod and moved all my mp3s onto it. Guess what I discovered? The evils of Napster! Downloaded music tends to be ripped by people with no clue of how to spell anything, let alone categorise to save their lives. I have 1600 mp3’s that need titles and artist information added to them. I spent an entire day sitting there and have only renamed about 200 correctly. What a pain in my ass this project is going to be. I found some software Tag and Edit that does some stuff, but still a bit manual of a process. Apart from these little difficulties, the iPod is a sweet addition to anyone’s gadget closet and I highly recommend going out and picking one up. I wish I had a car to plug it into for pure geek heaven…
