grandma/pa yamakawa’s house

memories:

  • 7up in a bottle and Thrifty’s ice cream sandwiches.
  • Mochi on Xmas day.
  • Japanese anime if we were good.
  • Graham always got the softer bed.
  • Locking the door and then jumping up and down on the mattresses until Grandpa Yamakawa would jimmy the lock with a butter knife and yell at us.
  • Sneaking kittens into the room and hiding them in the headboard.
  • All the dogs named Lucky.
  • Riding the handpushed cart around and around in circles.
  • Sneaking Yasuko’s Quigi board out of the closet.
  • The little weather radio on the lazy susan with all of Grandpa’s meds.
  • Waking up at 6am to the meditations of grandparents.
  • Velvet pillows with stuff painted on them.
  • The green vibrating chair.
  • Small glass of Coors original at dinner (not me, them).
